Oropesa

Oropesa is situated in the southern part of Costa Azahar and is considered to be the most respectable resort of Valencia because of the greatest in Europe resort complex called Marina D’or. Marina D’or is in the nothern part of Oropesa and they say it is “the city in the city”.

Marina D’or is really nice for summer holidays. On the vast territory there are lots of hotels which besides all standart tourist facilities also have spa-centres.

But the gigantic tourist complex is not the only merit of Oropesa. This city has its own peculiarity even under existing conditions of total commercialization. In Valencia it has the reputation of “the city of antiques”. The historical centre of Oropesa is composed of the ruins of the castle locating on the hill. There are three towers in Oropesa which the citizens are really proud of: Colomer’s Tower, Corda’s Tower and the King’s Tower. Nowadays there is a museum in the King’s Tower. The main church of Oropesa is Virgen de la Paciencia. It is a simple building with one tower which is in harmony with the surrounding landscape. If you don’t want to go for long walks there is a tiny train at your service which is in operation during the whole holiday season.

In any case, nobody who is spending holidays in Oropesa can escape Marina D’or even if they would like to do it. All the entertainments are concentrated there: golf courts, yacht clubs, restaurants, beauty centres and children’s side shows. In the nearest future the greatest part called “The World of Illusions” will be built in the vicinity of Oropesa, which will compete with another famous park Terra Mitica in the vicinity of Benidorm.

In addition it is worth saying that Oropesa has got well operating means of communication with other cities. The railway road between Madrid and Castellon and the motor-way A-7 of national significance lie through Oropesa. The motor-way A-7 passes along the Mediterranean coast connecting a lot of big Spanish cities: Barselona, Valencia, Almeira, Malaga, Mursia. There is one of the greatest Spanish marines with a port for private yachts in Oropesa. The port is one kilometer distance from the city.
