Gandia, like many resorts in Costa de Valencia of the past time, consisted of small provincial towns, the citizens were engaged in agriculture and fishing. But the tourist boom of the 60s and the great investments into development of Spanish tourism couldn’t but influence Gandia. One of the best resorts in Valencia Gandia Playa or “the Beach of Gandia” appeared at that time.
This place is situated 5 km away from the town. There is no beach in Gandia but there is a palace called Palacio Ducal de los Borja that belonged to the famous dinasty of Borja in the past. This noble family were notable for their intrigues and conspiracy.
Gandia Playa today is first of all a nice beach stretching along the Mediterranean Sea for 15 km. The tourists here are mainly Spaniards. There are also the Britains and French people.
The hotels of Gandia are mostly situated in Gandia Playa. The most comfortable of them is Oasis Gandia Palace Hotel 4* and Bayern 4*. Besides there are apartments which are open only in summer. The peculiarity of Gandia is that the apartments compose the main part of housing resources there.
The restaurants of Gandia offer lots of unique dishes. The most popular of them is paella with noodles. It is offered in “La Gamba” restaurant which is considered to be the best in Valencia.
If you want to avoid commercialization and find a lonely place, you should travel to the south. On the way from Olivia to the south you will see the beaches of Pau Pi and Aigua Blanca. These places are clean, calm and not crowded at all
