Costa Azahar is the famous resort in Valencia region together with Costa Blanca and Costa del Valencia. The beaches and resorts of Costa Azahar stretch for a hundred and twenty kms along the Mediterranean coast. The name of Costa Azahar means “the coast of orange blossoms” because orangeries are the symbol of Costa Azahar. The harvest of oranges here is the greatest in Spain.
The most famous places of Costa Azahar are the resorts of Peniscola, Benicasim, Benicarlo. They are famous all over the world. Costa Azahar is considered to be rather a young resort, though Spain is one of the most popular tourist regions of the world. That is why the services are cheaper here than in Benidorm (Costa Blanca) and Gandia (Costa de Valencia).
But the opportunities for holiday-makers in Costa Azahar are great: the pure sand beaches, tasty Spain wine, traditional “paella” and lots of architectural and cultural places and monuments can be found here. You may visit the fortress in Peniscola, which is built on the cliff in the sea. It was founded by Knights Templars, famous for their heroic deeds. One of the legends says that the Cup of Sacred Grahal was taken to Spain from Jerusalem by Knights Templars.
The local peculiarity of Costa Azahar is a great number of parks, both entertaining and natural. Aquaparks are situated in Segobriga and Beniscame (Aquarama). A very popular place among tourists is the Parrots’ Orchard in the vicinity of Benicarlo. In the park of Saltapins near Morella you can spend a lot of time outdoors.
