Altea is situated between Calpe and Benidorm along highway N332 which divides the town into two parts. Altea has become one of the most luxurious resorts on Costa Blanca lately. The reason is the elite village Altea Hills some kilometers away from Altea. The name of the village is analogous to the famous district of Beverly Hills in Hollywood. The village is situated in one of the most beautiful places of Costa Blanca on the slopes of the Sierra de Bernia Mountains. The houses and bungalows are built on the terraces which come down to the sea coast. There are hundreds of villas and apartments of extra class in Altea Hills and the Altea marine is one of the biggest in Spain.
Altea is situated in a picturesque bay between Cap Negre in the north and Cap Blanc in the south. It is a small pretty and very cosy place on the Mediterranean coast. There are some very old buildings, which are the examples of the Spanish Medieval architecture. One of them is the Nuestra Senora del Consuelo Church. Its picturesque blue dome is seen from any part of the resort.
It is really nice to spend summer holidays in Altea. There are 8 beaches along the sea coast, each of them is worth speaking about. The beaches at Cap Negre and Cap Blanc, La Roda, the Macarat beach near the Yachting Club are the most popular. The service is great there: centres of hiring sporting equipment, shower rooms, medical service, camping-sites, telephone and a restaurant. You can get to the beaches by bus.
For those who prefer active holidaysthere are golf courses, basketball grounds, football and handball fields, tennis courts and an Olympic swimming-pool. Most of all these attractions are situated in the local Sporting Centre (tel.+34 965 84 0397).
