The old place of Segorbe in the province of Castellon is mostly known not as the resort but as the place where interesting events occur. First of all it is certainly because of the famous bulls’ week or semana de Toros. At the beginning of September you should walk along the streets of Segorbe with caution because the main features there are bulls. They take part in special round before corrida. One would think what peculiar is in a bull which is running along the streets of a provincial town. But each year 200 000 people come to Segorbe to watch the round.
In Segorbe you have an opportunity not only to watch the running bulls but also to know the local cuisine. The bulls’ week is held at the same time as the Festival of Ham in the central square of the town. The entrance tickets are cheap and they give the tourists a chance to taste local dishes and Spanish wine. If after all these you are strong enough to go sightseeing, the Palace of Medinachelie is worth visiting, the town mayor works there now. Segorbe is a nice place for summer holidays too. There is a nice aquapark Segobriga there, where you can enjoy swimming and organize a picnic. The tickets are not expensive.
Sierra Calderona is a mountain mass which is situated near Segorbe. It is an ideal place for walking and rock-climbing. To provoke great interest to visit that place the local authorities organized a special tourist route El Fondo Alpin along the picturesque places at the foot of the mountain. Those who enjoy cycle racing should know this place because the route of the world famous cycle race called Vuelta lies there.
