Golf in Valencia is nowadays one of the most popular kinds of active holidays. Golf playing grounds in Valencia annually attract thousands of golf-players from all over the world. Many of professional golf-players consider Valencia one of the best golf regions in Europe.
Valencia has got such a reputation because there are about 20 professional golf-clubs in the three provinces. Among them there are certainly real favourites. The first is El Saler Club in the vicinities of Valencia. El Saler is situated in a picturesque place not far from the National Park of Albufera surrounded by dunes and pine-trees. Nowadays this club is one of the 50 best golf clubs in the world. The design of its playing- ground belongs to a famous golf-architector Xavier Arana. The ground of El Saler is considered the best for professional players: there are 18 holes for 72 pairs. The professionals will also like the grounds of El Bosque Golf Club in Xiva and Escorpión Club in Beter.
In general, the variety of golf grounds is really great in Valencia. If the ground of El Saler is mostly for professionals and is considered to be respectable and a little bit stand-offish, then the clubs of Costa Blanca are good for both professionals and beginners. Conditionally we may call Oriuella the capital of golf in Costa Blanca. There are three golf clubs there: the King’s Club Campoamor, Villamartin Club and Las Ramblas Club. Golf clubs of the capital of Alicante (Alicante Golf and El Pantiyo) and the golf club Real de Faula in Benidorm which is the most expensive in the community are also well-known.
Speaking about Costa Azahar it can be called an outsider in spite of the fact that there is one of the oldest golf-grounds there. It belongs to a golf club Costa Azahar opened at the beginning of the 60s of the last century. Nevertheless since then only two new golf clubs have been built there: Panoramica in San Jorge and Campo del Mediterráneo in Borriola.
