Mil Palmeras combines a golden sandy beach with nature experiences at Río Seco and visible traces of Roman history. If you would like to balance beach days, walking routes and cultural impressions during your trip, you will find several different focal points in one destination here.

Golden Sandy Beach on the Mediterranean

Mil Palmeras Beach is a sandy beach with golden sand and moderate waves. It is 535 metres long and 30 metres wide. This gives the coast a clearly defined beach area whose dimensions can be easily incorporated into your daily planning. The beach is easy to reach on foot and by car; the N-332 runs nearby.

Specific facilities are also part of the beach experience: Mil Palmeras Beach is accessible to people with reduced mobility and offers a children’s leisure area, small recreational boat hire and a sun lounger service. For families, the children’s area is a dedicated point of interest, while the other facilities add further activities and services to a day at the beach.

Río Seco Between Nature and Signposted Routes

Río Seco is a 19-kilometre-long hydrological catchment area, or rambla. Its natural surroundings are home to Mediterranean flora and fauna and serve as a resting place for migratory birds on their long journeys. Alongside the sea, this creates a landscape that combines nature observation and physical activity.

There are two signposted routes at Río Seco, measuring 4 and 10 kilometres respectively. The longer Río Seco route runs from the Pinar de Campoverde nature area to the mouth at Mil Palmeras Beach. The different lengths help you better assess the scope of a planned walk or excursion without equating the two route options.

Archaeological Traces on the Beach

The Roman quarries on Mil Palmeras Beach form a 60-metre-long archaeological site made of limestone sandstone. The Romans extracted large blocks of stone from these quarries. This gives the beach a clearly recognisable historical dimension alongside its natural character, directly linking it to a stay by the sea.

Summer Evenings and Former Leisure Facilities

In summer, an evening craft market is held on the promenade beside Mil Palmeras Beach and lasts until after midnight.

Hibernis Mare was a family-oriented leisure and health programme held during the winter season on the beaches of the municipality, particularly at Mil Palmeras Beach. In Mil Palmeras, Hibernis Mare was associated with activities such as Tri-Yoga, Aerobox C.K.B., yoga and hypopressives, introductory paddle-surfing courses, Latin American dancing, beach rugby and Zumba.
