El Port De Sagunt between the beach and industrial history

El Port De Sagunt is a destination for trips where you can combine the sea, industrial history, art and cycling culture. Industrial history and historic sites

A notable cultural and industrial site is Horno Alto nº 2. The blast furnace is 64.20 metres high and was declared a Site of Cultural Interest by the Generalitat Valenciana in 2024. Horno Alto nº 2 has an entrance pavilion for visitors with audiovisual equipment. In Grau Vell, a traditional fishing quarter with the monument is considered an ensemble; the block of houses in which the monument is located existed at least as early as 1933. In addition, Grau Vell is considered a Núcleo Histórico Tradicional and a Bien de Relevancia Local under urban planning law.

Vía Verde and cycling culture

The Centro de Interpretación de la Vía Verde de Ojos Negros is located on the first floor of the Puerto de Sagunto tourist office at Avenida del Mediterráneo 67. It has an exhibition room and an audiovisual room. The Vía Verde de Ojos Negros is a 235-kilometre cycling tourism route. It was created from a route used to transport iron ore from Ojos Negros in Teruel to Puerto de Sagunto.

Walking tours through the industrial heritage

The “Factory Town” route takes visitors through seven spaces of Puerto de Sagunto’s industrial heritage in sequence. “Factory Town – Sagunto en la era de los Peaky Blinders” is an audio guide and fictional podcast project for visiting the industrial heritage of Puerto de Sagunto. Another walking tour is the Ruta por el Patrimonio Industrial en Puerto de Sagunto, a tour for exploring the city’s industrial heritage.

Beach, harbour and outdoor art

The promenade at the port of Sagunto combines leisure facilities with a museum-style presentation of the port and Sagunto’s industrial heritage. It has an accessible path with a gradient of 4 percent. In addition, Playa Puerto de Sagunto offers a beach more than one kilometre long with very fine sand, lined by dunes. The beach has sports facilities and facilities for children; it also has access points designed for people with reduced mobility.

The Ruta Urban Art includes realistic art, abstraction, illustration and traditional graffiti from the MésqueMurs festival. It is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Begoña provides an architectural contrast: it is an eclectic building inspired by the Basílica de Begoña in Bilbao. In Grau Vell, the “Sagunt i la Mar” interpretation centre has also been opened to the public.
