Platja de Gandia combines an extensive sandy coastline with the urban Playa Nord beach, the dunes of Playa de l'Auir and the Paseo Marítimo. At Playa Nord, beach, sports and services come together, while Playa de l'Auir features dunes and vegetation.
Wide sandy beaches at Playa Nord
Platja de Gandia has more than five kilometres of fine sandy coastline. Playa Nord stretches for more than three kilometres and covers 300,000 m² of fine sand. It is an urban beach with safety, quality and environmental certifications. This combination gives Playa Nord a distinctive coastal character: wide sandy areas meet infrastructure that combines a day at the beach with sports, services and clear orientation.
Water sports, sports facilities and paths by the sea
In Gandia, approved centres and schools offer numerous water-based activities. These include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet skiing, rowing, kayaking, fishing, catamaran trips and stand-up paddleboarding. Playa Nord also has volleyball courts, basketball hoops, football goals and a kiteboarding area. Children's playgrounds are also available. When choosing activities, you can distinguish between the water sports centres and schools in Gandia and the permanent facilities at Playa Nord, and set the focus for the day.
The Paseo Marítimo also expands the possibilities along the coast: you can walk, run and skate there; bicycles can be ridden on the cycle path. This means that a day by the sea need not be limited to staying on the sand. Depending on your pace and preference, you can experience the seafront promenade on foot, on skates or by bicycle, combining sporting activities with a walk.
Dunes, vegetation and a distinctive beach character
At Playa de l'Auir, approximately two kilometres of dune ridges with native vegetation extend along the coast. Raised boardwalks allow visitors to enter the dune area while taking the dunes, flora and fauna into consideration.
Playa de l'Auir is also an authorised and signposted naturist beach. Together with the dunes and native vegetation, this gives it a different focus from the urban Playa Nord.
Information and facilities at Playa Nord
Playa Nord offers accessible boardwalks, sports areas, lifeguards, police surveillance and three bathing areas adapted for people with reduced mobility. There are also parasol and sun lounger rentals, beach bars and additional sports areas. These specific facilities make the beach appealing for different kinds of day plans, without requiring you to commit to just one way of using it. The rental services and beach bars complement the sports facilities at Playa Nord.
There are two tourist information offices known as “Faros” on Gandia beach, both directly on the Paseo Marítimo. Both points of contact are therefore located immediately on the promenade. The two offices are thus situated on the same promenade that is also used for walking, running, skating and cycling.
