Los Cantos on the Mijares: Hiking Routes and Stone Aqueduct Bridge

Los Cantos is located in the Espacio Natural del Curso Alto del Río Mijares and in the Sierra de Espadán. In addition, this route runs between Puebla de Arenoso and the provincial boundary between Castellón and Teruel through Los Cantos. The combination of distance, elevation gain and estimated duration gives you a concrete basis for incorporating this route into your daily plans.

There is also an important point to note about the PR-CV 126: it has been temporarily suspended due to deficiencies in the marking or route alignment. The GR 160 Camino del Cid, by contrast, leads from near the provincial boundary with Teruel to Los Cantos. From Los Cantos, it passes through a gorge and continues uphill through a pine forest. In this way, the two routes showcase different landscapes.

Cycling routes with their own character

There are also two specific route options for cycling enthusiasts. The gravel route La Conquista de Valencia is connected with Los Cantos. The Sendas Grana-Juana route includes a fast, technically demanding section and ends in Los Cantos. This adds a sporting perspective to the way the town can be viewed, clearly distinct from the hiking routes.

Bridge and mill by the river

A prominent feature associated with the watercourse is the Puente de los Cantos. It is a stone aqueduct bridge with a round arch. The bridge is located where the Mijares River flows through the town of Los Cantos. This means that the structure's material, form and location by the river are clearly interconnected.

A second structure on the Mijares is the Molino de los Peiros. The watermill is located in Los Cantos on the riverbank.
