The province of Valencia is the most important in the community. The capital of Valencia of the same name is situated there. Besides there are all most important elements of infrastructure: international ports, airports, motor-ways and railway junctions. However, if we compare Valencia, Costa Azahar in Castellon and Costa Blanca in Alicante we’ll see that the latter two are more popular resorts concerning holidays on the beaches. But still there are enough high standard resorts in Valencia or in Costa Valencia to be exact. Besides Valencia city there are also such famous cities as Gandia and Cullera in Costa Valencia.
In any case Valencia is less popular concerning the beaches than Alicante and Castellon, but speaking about excursions it is beyond comparison. The main place of sightseeing is certainly the capital. For Valencia it is nowadays the period of “the second youth”. Besides its wonderful buidings of the Middle Ages there appeared also new ones. The best of them is the gigantic supermodern City of Science and Art. Moreover Valencia has become the objective of the world leading information agencies recently. In 2007 the city has become the capital of the American Cup that is of the main regatta on the planet. In 2008 the motor race of Formula 1 is going to be held there.
Near the capital there is a national park of the province called Albufera. It is a unique park because in the vicinity of the Mediterranean Sea there is a freshwater lake. They are separated only by a narrow stripe of sandy dunes. About 250 kinds of birds build nests in the national park of Albufera.
Valencia is attractive because of its small towns as well. Historically the province is devided into 14 districts which are called comarkas. Each comarka is famous for special events and sights. For example, Buniol, the centre of the Khoya de Buniol comarka is famous for its extravagant festival Tomatina. Lliria, the capital of Camp de Turia comarka, is concidered to be the musical centre of the province. The well-known Musical Week is organized there at the end of August. The town of Ksativa is known as the native place of one of the greatest Spanish poets Jose Ribeira.
