Benissa between coastal paths, coves and festivals
Benissa combines coastal paths, coves, cycling routes and mountains with art, museums and festivals.
Coastal Path and Coves
The Paseo EcolĂłgico de Benissa is a four-kilometre-long path that runs along the entire coast. It is signposted throughout; information boards provide details about the history, vegetation and special features of the area. The path connects the coastal landscape with information about its history, vegetation and special features.
A footpath with information boards about the coastal area of Benissa leads to Cala de Pinets. For a day on foot along the coast, the four-kilometre-long Paseo EcolĂłgico and the footpath to Cala de Pinets are therefore two distinct routes.
Cala Baladrar lies between cliffs and pine trees that extend almost to the sea. Clear water covers a pebbly seabed there.
Cala de Pinets is a 60-metre-long and approximately 10-metre-wide pebble cove with calm, shallow water. Snorkelling, diving, kayaking and hiking are possible there; water activities and the coastal path come together here.
Cycling Routes and Water Sports
Benissa offers cycling routes for road bikes, mountain bikes and gravel bikes. The Benissa - Bernia BTT route is 35.40 kilometres long and classified as difficult; allowing plenty of time with breaks is advisable for the ride. The Ruta del moscatell BTT is 20.10 kilometres long and classified as easy; its shorter distance may allow for a more compact mountain-biking day.
Benissa’s clear coastal waters are suitable for diving, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. The coastal waters thus combine underwater sports with activities on the surface.
Art, Museums and Festivals
Les Cases del Batlle houses the Espai d’Art Contemporani Salvador Soria in the historic manor house, promoting contemporary art. The manor house therefore brings together a specific cultural venue and the promotion of contemporary art.
The Sala de Exposiciones Ajuntament Vell, a museum, is also located in the vicinity of Benissa. The Museu Ca Lambert, a museum, is likewise in the surrounding area.
In April, Benissa celebrates the Fiestas Patronales in honour of the PurĂsima Xiqueta.
The Moros y Cristianos festival takes place in Benissa in June. The festivals in April and June mark two points in Benissa’s annual calendar.
