Hiking trails with different profiles

There are four signposted and officially certified hiking trails in the Serra d’en Galceran area. They differ in difficulty and length. For your planning, this means you can make a clear choice between different hiking profiles, without every trail requiring the same level of endurance or appealing to the same interests.

The Ruta del Gravats is a linear, easy-to-manage trail from Serra d’en Galceran to Els Rosildos. The route is approximately 6.5 kilometres long in one direction. Another point of reference is provided by stages between Sierra Engarcerán and Sant Pau d’Albocàsser: one stage is 15.20 kilometres long, while a third stage also runs from Sierra Engarcerán to Sant Pau d’Albocàsser.

Rock art and active experiences

In the municipal area of Serra d’en Galceran, you can visit the remains of the Iberian settlement of Els Castellars. Abric d’en Melià is also located there, a rock-art site featuring engravings made using incision techniques. Access to Abric d’en Melià is difficult and suitable only for well-prepared hikers with a strong interest in rock art.

Cyclists can ride up the Port de la Bandereta beside Els Rosildos. The short climb is steep, and panoramic views open up from the summit. The landscape around Els Rosildos also offers opportunities for climbing. One hike leads to Roca del Figueral, where there is a permanent zip line, a via ferrata and a Tibetan bridge.

Festivals with their own traditions

The festival in honour of San CristĂłbal takes place in Els Rosildos during the last week of June. It combines religious and secular events with bull-related activities, cultural activities, traditional dances and dancing events.

The San Antonio festival also has established customs: it includes the traditional blessing of horses and other animals. Traditional “coquetes de Sant Antoni” are also distributed during the festival. In this way, religious observance and local festival culture stand side by side.

Regional cuisine and a remarkable building

Traditional dishes from Els Rosildos include roast meat with ajoaceite. Traditional sweet specialities include “els pastissos de carabassa”, “rotllos d’aiguardent” and “rollos d’ou”. Els Rosildos is also home to one of the most interesting snow houses in the Valencian Community.

Mountain biking event

The X Marxa BTT Els Rosildos was announced as a mountain-biking event for 16 June as part of the Circuit BTT Muntanyes de Castelló. If you follow cycling topics in addition to hiking trails, this event is part of the town’s events calendar.
