Margarida: Castle, Ravine and Trails through the Landscape

Nature at the Barranc de l’Encantà

The Barranc de l’Encantà is a natural area with an intermittent watercourse. A four-kilometre walk along the ravine leads through a Mediterranean landscape with aromatic plants and characteristic trees. In summer, you can swim in the pools that have formed there. The changing watercourse and vegetation combine movement and nature in this section.

Margarida Castle and its history

Margarida Castle lies south of Margarida. It is open to visitors, although it can only be reached on foot via a very difficult path. In 1244, it passed into Christian hands as part of the Pact of Pouet, after Al-Azraq had declared himself a vassal of Jaume I. Before that, it belonged to Al-Azraq. Its location and history make the castle a specific focal point of cultural heritage.
