Buildings with a history of their own

The Torre del Rellotge in Monóvar was built in 1743. It houses the town clock and bells and is 18 metres high. The Ermita de Santa Bárbara is an 18th-century building whose design follows Valencian Baroque style and shows a clear influence of Italian Baroque and Neoclassicism. Today, it is recognised as a Bien de Interés Cultural.

The Fondó air-raid shelter was built in 1938 and now houses a permanent exhibition featuring drawings by children from the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) and the Syrian War (2010). The site thus combines architecture and remembrance culture in a way that links historical themes directly to specific spaces.

Wine and special weekends

Monóvar is a founding member of the Ruta del Vino de Alicante. In Manya, Monóvar, Bodegas Alejandro offers wine tourism, guided tours and a shop.
