Aras de los Olmos is part of the Alto Turia Biosphere Reserve, which was recognized by UNESCO in 2019. In addition to the Alto Turia Biosphere Reserve, the Ecomuseo, Torre del Cortijo, Horno Medieval and Fiestas Gordas shape the public cultural offering of Aras de los Olmos.

Ecomuseo and Historic Buildings

The Ecomuseo de Aras de los Olmos extends across several locations and presents the local culture and its traditions. As a cultural center, the Ecomuseo includes the Sala de la Almazara de Cera and the Francisco Moreno Mesas Archaeological Collection. This allows you to explore both traditional everyday and cultural topics as well as archaeological content.

Torre del Cortijo was built during the Taifa of Banu Qasim at the beginning of the 11th century and is approximately 10 meters high. Horno Medieval was built in 1351 and remained in operation until 1975.

Solar Observation and Summer Program

Centro Big History offers daytime workshops on solar observation using special filtered telescopes. The observatory opens to visitors during the summer months as part of the “Nit a Aras” program. The astronomical offering therefore ranges from accompanied daytime observation to a seasonal visit to the observatory.

The Jardín Etnobotánico Francisco Peláez Roldán is a living museum of native flora and was established on the site of a former municipal cemetery. The garden is freely accessible year-round.
