Urban Art and Local History

Graffitea is an urban art project supported by the Department of Culture of the Ayuntamiento de Cheste. It brings murals to various locations throughout the municipality. The project also includes lectures, discussion sessions, screenings and practical workshops. More than 100 artistically significant interventions have turned Graffitea into an open-air museum. In this way, Graffitea combines murals with a cultural programme of discussions, screenings and workshops.

The Ruta Urbana runs through the centre of Cheste and visits emblematic buildings and places. Some stops are complemented by brief explanatory panels. The buildings include the Iglesia Parroquial de San Lucas Evangelista, with several chapels and interesting sculptures, as well as the Ermita de la Virgen de la Soledad. The Neoclassical chapel was built on the site of an older 16th-century temple. The route thus combines religious buildings with concise explanations at individual stops.

Parque de La Lomiquia and Hiking Trail

On the outskirts of the municipality of Cheste, Parque de La Lomiquia was created through the ecological restoration of a degraded area that had previously been used as a landfill. The park covers more than 55,000 m². Paths run through the site and provide access to a variety of natural features. The restored land, paths and pond are all part of the same park complex.

The pond in Parque de La Lomiquia provides mallards (Anas platyrhynchos), Eurasian teals (Anas crecca) and frogs (Pelophylax perezi) with food, water or shelter.

For a longer route, there is the local hiking trail SL-CV 77 Sendero del Barranco Hondo, supported by the Ayuntamiento de Cheste. It is 10.20 km long, has a theoretical walking time of three hours, and its quality control is subject to conditions.

Motorsport and Festivals with Regional Character

The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is located on the A3 Valencia–Madrid, Exit 334, in 46380 Cheste (Valencia), Spain. The race track offers public motorcycle track sessions during which visitors can ride their own motorcycles on the circuit. The specific session format combines the location on the A3 with riding one’s own motorcycle on the race track.

The Fiesta de la Vendimia in Cheste is celebrated in honour of the patron saint San Lucas Evangelista and as thanks for the harvest received. Its programme begins with the Pisà de la uva and includes, among other things, bull parades with horses, rural bull runs, processions and folk dances. Thanksgiving for the harvest, the religious occasion and various forms of celebration come together in this event.

FIVAMOS is an annual Moscatel event featuring presentations and tastings of typical products, wine tastings, food-and-wine pairings and visits to the participating municipalities of Chiva, Godelleta and Cheste. FIVAMOS combines Moscatel and typical products with visits to the three participating municipalities.
