Parcent combines mountain landscapes with the valley of the Xaló River. Nature, trails and culture are reflected here in specific features: Mediterranean vegetation, historic buildings, rock art and regional festivals. When choosing a hotel or other accommodation in Parcent, you can align your travel plans with these different highlights.
Landscape and hiking trails
The natural vegetation of Parcent includes Aleppo pines, scattered holm oaks, Mediterranean maquis, as well as lavender, rosemary, thyme, mint, chamomile and dwarf palms. There is also a seasonal highlight: the almond trees bloom especially in February. The municipality also offers four different hiking suggestions. This gives you two concrete reference points for planning: the almond blossom in February and a choice of four hiking suggestions.
One specific route is the Volta de les Fonts. The Camins de pedra i aigua trail is classified as easy, connects Parcent with the other municipalities of the Vall de Pop and follows the Xaló River for most of the route. The Volta de les Fonts is 13.75 km long and has a moderate technical difficulty level.
Architectural history and rural heritage
Architectural history and agricultural heritage are also present at specific sites in Parcent. Construction of the Iglesia de la Purísima Concepción on the Plaza del Pueblo in Parcent began in 1630. The Cooperativa Agrícola “El Progrés” houses an ethnological museum in its former olive oil and wine press. Several riuraus in Parcent that are open to visitors have been included in the Ruta dels Riuraus. The cultural spectrum therefore ranges from religious architecture and agricultural use to traditional riuraus.
Traces of the older past
The older past is represented by further specific findings. Casa Gabriel Miró dates from the late 16th or early 17th century; the municipality of Parcent acquired it in 2006 for use as a cultural centre. The Abric del Seguili preserves the oldest known traces of Parcent in the form of rock art, including a schematic motif and female figures from Levantine art. A circular structure stands in El Carrascar at an altitude of 780 m. Parcent also has an Arab relic in the form of a rectangular structure with round-arch pillars.
Dates and orientation for your trip
The patron saint festivals dedicated to Sant Llorenç are important for planning your dates: they take place in Parcent during the second week of August. Regular transport connections link Parcent with larger cities. When choosing your accommodation, you can therefore check whether the second week of August fits your plans and whether you would like to combine Parcent with other destinations. This allows you to coordinate cultural events, hiking ideas and your preferred travel plans.
