The Fuente del Abrullador is located five kilometres from Chella, and its spring supplies Chella with water. The small, naturally protected El Paraíso wetland stands out for its lush vegetation and local microclimate. The linear PR-CV 113 Azagador de Chella a Anna trail is 7.07 km long and runs from the Fuente del Abrullador in Chella to the Gorgo del Catalán. Within the municipality of Chella, the PR-CV 113 reaches the town area via rural paths and continues to Parque de los Chopos.

A Cave with Unique Formations

A distinct natural attraction is the small cave “La Cueva que Llueve”. There, seepage water and the drops from the waterfall have formed stalactites and stalagmites. Stalactites hang from above, while stalagmites grow upwards from the ground.

Muslim Town Plan and Historical Testimonies

The historical testimonies are reflected in different features of the townscape. The Iglesia Parroquial de la Virgen de Gracia was rebuilt in the 18th century after the 1763 earthquake. The oldest streets of Chella still preserve their Muslim town plan. The Cuevas del Turco are also located in Chella; these grain-storage caves have been protected from unwanted visitors since the 13th century thanks to their strategic location. Reconstruction, urban structure and storage thus stand side by side as different historical traces.

Dishes, Craftsmanship and Patron Saint Festivities

Chella preserves an old craft tradition of producing Caliqueños. The regional cuisine also includes Casolica de pencas, a typical dish made with potatoes and tender artichoke stems. The annual festival calendar adds another cultural accent: the patron saint festivities in honour of Candelaria, San Blas and Santísimo Cristo del Refugio take place every year from 2 February to 4 February. The celebration in honour of San Blas includes a traditional concert and the distribution of aniseed rolls. The San Blas festival therefore brings together music and a specific regional pastry.
