Otos and the Benicadell

Otos is a starting point for hikes to the Benicadell. From here, hiking trails lead to l’Ombria del Benicadell, where the ruins of Castell de Carbonera are located. The SL-CV 10 hiking trail, “Otos i el Paisatge Protegit de l’Ombria del Benicadell”, begins on C/ de Sant Roc in Otos. The trail is promoted by the Ayuntamiento de Otos.

The SL-CV 10 as a circular route

The SL-CV 10 is a circular route with some sections shared by the outward and return journeys. The route is 9.40 km long and includes 440 metres of ascent and 440 metres of descent. The 9.40 kilometres refer to the entire loop. Some sections are therefore used for both the outward and return journeys.

Nevera de Tormo and Cueva Coleto

The hiking trail passes by the Nevera de Tormo; the Cueva Coleto is only nearby.

Sundials throughout the town

The Route dels Rellotges de sol began in 2005 as a project to create eight sundials by Valencian artists. Today, the collection comprises more than thirty sundials. The numerous works are spread throughout the town and form an open-air museum.

Art at the Palau

At the Palau d’Otos, the permanent Antoni Miró collection presents a tour through the artist’s various creative periods and series. It is devoted exclusively to Antoni Miró and arranged chronologically. The collection comprises more than 200 works. On Sundays, it can be visited together with the guided Route dels Rellotges de sol.

The Palau del marqués de Sant Josep was built by Joan Nunyes in 1725. It is a Baroque palace with a cube-shaped main building and a tower attached to the rear.

Religious architecture

The church “L’Església de la Immaculada Concepció” was built between 1721 and 1724 and blessed in 1742. Its structure has three naves and a dome over the crossing. The three naves divide the church interior into a central nave and two side aisles. The crossing is the central area where the nave and transept of a church intersect. The Ermita de la Virgen de los Dolores is described as an 18th-century chapel with romantically designed representations of the Stations of the Cross and a main altar.

Festivals in Otos

Otos’s patron saint festivals are celebrated from 6 to 8 August in honour of Cristo de la Fe, Santos de la Piedra and Inmaculada Concepción. Dia de les Cassoletes is celebrated on the Thursday before Carnival and focuses on pig’s ear and pig’s snout.
