Buildings, Trails and Festivals in Cirat
Cirat combines historic buildings, nature trails and festive traditions. History is reflected in the Torre del Palacio, the Iglesia de San Bernardo and the Castillo, while pools, gorges and forest paths shape the landscape.
The Torre del Palacio de los Condes de Cirat was built in the 13th century during the Moorish period and the Reconquista. The building consists of two floors; the lower one was probably a cistern. The fully restored Torre del Conde de Cirat houses the Tourist Information Office.

Museum and Local History
The Museo Etnológico de Cirat extends across three locations: the Torre del Conde, the oven and the Casa Abadía. The ground floor of the Casa Abadía focuses on everyday life and includes objects donated by residents of Cirat.
Church and Religious Tradition
The Iglesia de San Bernardo is a Baroque church and is classified as a Bien de Interés Cultural. The Castillo de Cirat is believed to have Andalusi origins.
During Holy Week, the image of the Dolorosa is carried in a procession through Cirat. Cirat's patron saint festivities in honour of San Bernardo Abad take place during the week of 20 August.
Pools, Gorges and Forest Paths in Cirat
The Barranco de las Salinas has nine pools of clear, cool water, from La Bañera to La Caldereta. An easy two-kilometre hiking trail leads to these pools.
The linear R-2 El Salto de la Novia out-and-back route leads to the two unique natural sites of Salto de la Novia and Barranco de las Salinas. At certain points along the R-2, information boards provide details about the fauna, flora and natural surroundings. For day planning, the nature trails offer different options: easy access to the pools, a linear out-and-back route and the ascent of the R-3 from the river can be planned separately in terms of trail length, return journey and elevation gain. The surface is also a separate factor for sporting activities: paths and tracks are combined differently in Trail Cirat than on the mountain-bike routes, which mostly run along tracks.
Hiking, Trail Running and Mountain-Bike Routes
The R-3 De Cirat a El Tormo route connects Cirat and El Tormo. It climbs from the river through dense pine forests with caves, gorges, winding paths and old Masías. Trail Cirat is an approximately 11-kilometre trail-running route on paths and tracks around Cirat.
For mountain-bike experiences, the Centro BTT Alto Mijares offers two mountain-bike routes that pass through Cirat and its mountains and mostly run along tracks.
Getting to Cirat
Cirat can be reached via the CV-20 between Torrechiva and Montanejos in the province of Castellón.
