Titaguas combines historical landmarks with signposted trails and the landscape of Alto Turia. The town is part of the Alto Turia Biosphere Reserve, which was recognised by UNESCO in 2019.
Culture and Traditions
The Mojiganga de Titaguas is classified as intangible cultural heritage of cultural interest and is performed at the Fiestas Gordas every seven years. The Mojiganga combines a religious section with a secular one depicting agricultural activities from the region.
At the heart of Titaguas stands the Iglesia Parroquial de El Salvador, a 16th-century church. In the historic town centre, the Fuente Vieja and Fuente del Moral, both dating from the 17th century, are also integrated into the landscape. Noche de las Velas is a summer celebration during which music and candles illuminate Titaguas. On a tour of the town, the signposted Ruta Urbana, marked with information panels, leads through notable streets and sights.
Near Titaguas stands the shelter of TĂo Escribano. It features rock paintings that form part of the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin.
Hiking Trails and Landscapes
Titaguas offers the two-kilometre Ruta Natural for a hike. It begins in the town centre and leads to the monument to SimĂłn de Rojas Clemente. The two kilometres of the Ruta Natural provide a clear framework for a planned visit to Titaguas.
The Senda Los Felipes continues between Titaguas and Tuéjar. It is officially classified as PR-CV 455 and is named Sendero de Titaguas a los Felipes – la Hoz Cerrada. Along the way are former gypsum kilns, Aljezares, viewpoints, the ruins of a mill, abandoned hamlets, ravines and trails rich in vegetation.
The La Lámpara via ferrata route is located in the Mirador de la Loma mountain massif, at Pico de la Lámpara. It is 1.3 kilometres long in total and includes 300 metres of via ferrata. Its difficulty level is rated K3. When planning your own tour of La Lámpara, consider not only the total length but also the 300-metre via ferrata section and the K3 difficulty level.
Fuente de la Zarza is a recreation area on a small hill overlooking the valley of Titaguas and the surrounding mountains. It has paelleros, tables, benches and a covered area for outdoor meals. Titaguas is also a Starlight destination. At the La Loma astronomical viewpoint, you can observe the night sky.
Cycling through Alto Turia
The TravesĂa Ciclo Turista Alto Turia mountain bike tour follows paths along the River Turia that combine nature and history.
