The Ruta dels 7 Pobles de la Tinença de Benifassà offers a different dimension. It is a circular route of approximately 75 kilometres, for which dividing it into stages is recommended. It runs from La Pobla de Benifassà to El Ballestar and then on to Fredes. For hikers who want to divide a longer route into sections, this combination of a circular route and stage planning is the key practical point.

Nature and terrain of the Tinença

The Ruta dels 7 Pobles de la Tinença de Benifassà passes through terrain with significant differences in elevation. Good physical preparation, suitable equipment and experience with such activities are therefore recommended. These requirements make the route an option for a deliberately planned hiking trip.

The Parc Natural de la Tinença de Benifassà is a protected natural area. El Ballestar is one of the seven villages of the Tinença connected by signposted hiking trails. This combination of a natural area and signposted trails shapes the Tinença's appeal for hikers.

Religious buildings and local culture

The buildings also give Ballestar a clear cultural profile. The Iglesia Parroquial de San Salvador del Ballestar is dedicated to Saint San Salvador and dates from the 13th century. It can be reached via the CV105 road and then the CV108.

A walk to the Paraje de Les Vinyes leads to the Ermita de la Santísima Trinidad de El Ballestar, which dates from the 19th century. The Església del Salvador del Bellestar includes the Sagrari chapel.
