Nature park and route towards Fredes

The Tinença de Benifassà Nature Park is home to, among other species, Iberian ibex, roe deer and wild boar. Its birdlife includes vultures, Bonelli’s eagles and booted eagles. The GR 7 E24 route leads towards Fredes; Fredes belongs to La Pobla de Benifassà. The route to Fredes and the wildlife living there therefore belong to the same nature park.

Font Lluny near the town centre

The Font Lluny recreation area is located around 500 metres from the town centre of La Pobla de Benifassà. Font Lluny includes a natural spring, tables and barbecue areas.

Art in the town centre and just outside the town

Culture enthusiasts can find three different art venues in and near La Pobla de Benifassà. The Casa-museo de Renate Steen is located in the town centre, where the artist displays her paintings and sculptures. La Pobla de Benifassà is also home to the Edicions H. Jenninger – Galeria d’art art gallery. Just outside La Pobla de Benifassà is the Jardí de Peter open-air museum, where the artist Peter Buch’s imaginary sculptures are displayed. Its content ranges from paintings and sculptures to imaginary sculptures in the open-air museum. The three venues are located in the town centre, in La Pobla de Benifassà or just outside the town; at the same time, the formats range from the Casa-museo and the art gallery to the open-air museum.

Monastery and history

The Monasterio de Santa María, also known as the Cartuja de Santa María, is located around 7 kilometres from La Pobla de Benifassà. Jaime I founded the monastery in the 13th century; it was built in the Gothic-Cistercian style. The Gothic-Cistercian style is therefore part of the architectural history of the monastery founded in the 13th century.

Cova dels Rossegadors and rock paintings

The Cova dels Rossegadors is also known as Cueva del Polvorín. It is located at the Ulldecona Reservoir in the heart of Tinença de Benifassà Nature Park. A reservation must be made in advance to visit the rock paintings in the Cova dels Rossegadors.

Reservoir, scooters and canoes

Scooters and canoes are rented at the Ulldecona Reservoir through Moli l’Abad. The reservoir is also the place where the Cova dels Rossegadors is located. At the Ulldecona Reservoir, the Cova dels Rossegadors and rentals through Moli l’Abad therefore represent separate topics alongside each other.

Festa de Sant Antoni

The Festa de Sant Antoni includes the slaughter of a pig, the construction of the Barraca, a shared dinner and dancing.

Tourist information centre in the nature park

The Tinença de Benifassà Tourist Information Centre is located in Tinença de Benifassà Nature Park. This information centre is therefore also located in the same natural area as the Cova dels Rossegadors and the rock paintings there.
